With over thirty years experience in business and industry in operating roles -- manufacturing management, finance, labor relations, human resources management -- and internal and external consulting, Chuck brings a unique and integrated perspective to his work.
Chuck Phillips established the organization development function for the Aircraft Engine Group of GE, serving as Manager of Organization Development for eight years and providing consultation across much of GE during that time.
Since leaving GE in 1982, Chuck has worked with a variety of organizations world-wide -- industrial, financial, educational, governmental, large and small, for-profit and not-for-profit -- on a wide range of organization improvement, strategic change management consultations, and training and development initiatives.
Chuck was the lead external consultant for the internationally recognized GE - Bromont, Quebec plant start-up and development, and he led the Work-Out efforts at three divisions of GE -- GE Supply, Roper Corporation, and GE Industrial and Power Systems Sales.
As a principle architect of the IBM change strategy to align IBM’s operating practices and culture with Lou Gerstner's strategy and structural changes, Chuck developed and led a unique, business-driven cultural change process evolved from the GE WorkOut approach. This "ACT" process (Accelerate Change Together) has netted IBM hundreds of millions of dollars in cost savings, contributed hundreds of millions more to top line growth and saved billions of dollars in inventory carrying costs while providing critical impetus and direction to the global leveraging strategy and cultural change.
Chuck has extensive experience in consulting internationally, including work in Venezuela, Egypt, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the PRC, England, Belgium, Spain, Mexico, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Trinidad and Canada. He has consulted to/with GTZ in Malawi and USAID in Egypt.
Chuck is a professional member of NTL Institute where he provides leadership and staffing to several professional development programs. He is a member of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) where he serves as the special advisor for change.
He lives in Franconia, NH with his wife, Betsey, and enjoys tennis, hiking, fishing, skiing and traveling. He is a world-ranked, masters level alpine ski racer.
