Peter Gaarn
Biographical Summary

Peter Gaarn has over 25 years of business experience in planning, designing, implementing and coaching business leaders to effectively execute strategic change initiatives.   What distinguishes Peter in this area is his broad set of competencies and his ability to drive strategic change efforts from concept to results.  Peter is uniquely skilled in hi-tech, hyper growth, global and virtual business environments where dynamic change is the norm and strategic alignment, organizational agility and sustainable performance are essential to business success.

Peter has worked both as an internal consultant (Hewlett Packard & Lockheed Martin) and external consultant.  Recent external clients have included: Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, SRI International and NetApp.  While with Lockheed Martin, Peter led a number of large scale change/transformation effort within Space Systems Division Manufacturing.  While at HP, Peter was the Manager of Organizational Architecture for HP’s Strategic Change Services business and supported a number of organizational redesigns and change efforts within the LaserJet, InkJet and Storage Businesses.

Organizational Change Management
Assist leaders in the design, implementation and leadership of strategic change efforts to improve operational performance and business results at the corporate, business unit or team level.   Provide complete support from design through implementation.

Organizational Strategy and Architecture
Assist leaders in the design and alignment of organizational architecture (structure, roles, processes, metrics, rewards and culture) to effectively execute business strategy.

Company Culture Renewal and Transformation
Assist leaders in the design and alignment of company culture to enable business results, attract and retain critical talent, and increase employee commitment and engagement.   Provide one-on-one coaching to Senior Leaders to build critical competencies in leading cultural change and transformation.

Executive Team Alignment
Assist leaders in planning and facilitating strategic off-sites/retreats to achieve team alignment around business strategy, strategic initiatives and effective execution.

Executive and Leadership Development
Assist leaders and HR professionals in the design and implementation of executive and leadership development programs to enable business strategy and organizational execution.   Provide one-on-one coaching to Senior Leaders to address leadership competency gaps and build high performing organizations.

Education and Community Involvement

Peter obtained his Masters in Social Welfare (MSW) from the University of California Berkeley and his BA in Psychology from the University of California in Santa Cruz.   Peter is on the Board of the Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center which is the largest non-profit agency in Santa Cruz County.  He was Chairman of the Board from 2000 to 200
